We’re pleased to bring you an exclusive interview with WiFi Plug Owner and Director, Entrepreneur and Apprentice Candidate, Leon Doyle!

Q: Has being on The Apprentice helped you in business?
A: I think it has massively helped me, you learn a lot when you’re there. Whilst it can portray you quite poorly at times, it is a really positive experience. You are surrounded by intelligent people and you pick up a lot of things that you didn’t know before which you take with you. I’m certainly very glad I went on it.

Q: What would be your advice for anybody wanting to go on the show?
A: I think it’s had it’s day. We got 12M viewers every week the following year they only got 6M but i’d still do it all over again. The exposure is a bonus, the tasks are what made it for me.

Q: What is the best, and the worst, part of The Apprentice?
A: The worst part is probably the crazy schedule! It’s pretty much all go all the time. The best part, I would say, is the challenge of it all. The tasks are really stimulating and I loved the different challenges you were presented with.

Q: How is it living in that house with a group of people that, on screen at least, don’t always get along that well?
A: It’s alright, actually. You don’t have that much downtime so you don’t really get that much of a chance to fall out with people!

Q: What was your biggest regret from doing the show?
A: Erm… that I didn’t win! Actually it’s not that i didn’t win, it’s that i didn’t come second! Winning means splitting 50% of the business with Shuggz, I couldn’t think of anything worse!

Q: Tell us about WiFi Plug, how did it start?
A: My Girlfriend constantly left her hair straighteners on, one day we came home in time to save it from burning down. It got me thinking about ideas and i was actually going to sell it to a leading hair straightening firm but realised it had the ability to covr a multitude of applications so i flew to China met with some engineers and factories and 12 months later it was selling.
